More and more the nation is recognizing the benefits of applying technologies to agriculture, and training programs are increasing. The WSU Center for Precision Agriculture offers exciting opportunities for students from high school to post-graduate levels of education. We host summer interns that are typically high school and college students. This summer employment coincides with the busy field season, which allows students to be in the field at the prime time for developing new skills to collect data, perform data analysis, and integrate technology.
Undergraduate courses in precision agriculture are available through the Agricultural Technology Management Program (AGTM) offered in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences on the main WSU campus in Pullman. James Durfey coordinates the AGTM program and can be contacted for more information.
Graduate (Masters and Doctoral) students support current grant research, which allows them to learn about new technologies while learning research skills and fulfilling their graduate program. Post-graduate (Masters and Doctoral) students lead new research areas, work collaboratively with faculty and staff, help write research grants, and present their work in presentations and articles. We have also hosted international students for research internships. Please contact Dr. Francis J. Pierce for more information about graduate education in precision agriculture.
